About the publisher
Trældal Forlag was founded with a simple goal: to publish stories that deserve to be preserved.
We believe that some stories hold a value that reaches far beyond a single generation. It may be the story of a family, a local community, a human life, or a novel inspired by real events. What they all have in common is that they deserve to be told – and read.
The publisher has its roots in the small village of Trældal by the Rombaks fjord, but our ambition reaches beyond a single place. We want to publish books that convey history, identity and powerful storytelling, whether they are based on documented events or works of fiction.
It all began with the novel «Trældal», a historical novel about the Trældal farm and the family who fought for their home for nearly 200 years. The strong response from the first readers and pre-orders confirmed that such stories engage people – and that there is an audience who wants books with roots, depth and meaning.
Today Trældal Forlag is working on several titles, including the local history book «Fakta om Trældal», an English edition of «Trældal», and new book projects from authors who wish to share their own history or create new literary worlds.
How we work
Trældal Forlag is an independent publisher that combines modern production methods with traditional publishing.
We produce books as needed through print on demand and pre-orders. This gives sustainable production with minimal waste and makes it possible to invest in titles that would otherwise fall outside the large publishers' programmes.
As a small publisher we have the freedom to prioritise content over volume. We emphasise quality at every stage – from manuscript and editorial work to design, production and distribution. Our goal is to create books of lasting value, and to make room for stories that deserve a life between two covers.
Do you have a story that should become a book?
We are always interested in getting in touch with people who wish to preserve family history, local history, or develop works of fiction. If you have a manuscript or an idea you think would fit with us, we would love to hear from you.
